Why we started Aspire Caregiving
Care inspired by our own family's experience.
My grandfather had dementia. My grandmother had Parkinson's. They wanted to stay in their home, but our family struggled to give them the support they needed.
My dad drove several hours to help. He loved his parents, but he didn't understand why they could seem alert and engaged on one visit and confused or withdrawn on another. Without the knowledge and support he needed, those visits often became frustrating and overwhelming. Eventually, my grandparents moved into a care facility, a decision none of us had wanted. At the time, we didn't know in-home caregiving was an option.
That experience stayed with me.
After ten years working in the medical community, I discovered the difference in-home care could make. Drawing on my medical and management experience, my wife, Kim, and I founded Aspire Caregiving in 2010. We became its first two caregivers, determined to provide the kind of dependable, compassionate support we wished our family had known about.
We believed caregiving could offer much more than someone simply being present. It could help people stay engaged, maintain meaningful routines, and enjoy daily life. That belief led us to create the Aspire Wellness Program, with five areas of focus:
- Safety
- Mental exercise
- Physical exercise
- Nutritional planning
- Emotional and social well-being
Since those first days in Southern Oregon, Aspire has helped thousands of people. Our purpose remains personal: to help people live well at home and give their families support they can count on.
If you're trying to figure out care for someone you love, you don't have to figure it out alone.
